Are we expectant?

Transformational Church

I’m reading a book called Transformational Church and it has challenged my understanding of church growth. Specifically, that real church growth is not based on attendance but rather a list of other things which include most importantly growing in discipleship, missions, and worship.

One particular idea has grabbed my attention so far. In a section entitled Engage the idea of worship is brought to light. Basically, if a church is to be Transformational, then the people have to be worshiping as a transformational activity (pg 36). When the Church changes their understanding of worship from being “me” centered to “Christ” centered, everything will change.

“The worship witnessed in Transformational Churches contains an element that stood out to our research team: expectancy. When people arrived for worship, they knew something great was going to happen. They trusted God to deliver transformation rather than musicians to deliver a good show.”
